Interior Designer
Location: Chicago, IL or Washington D.C. (Chantilly, VA)

Exp Federal delivers full-service Architecture & Engineering services, construction, and facility management services throughout the world. Exp Federal's mission is to provide superior technical solutions to the U.S. federal government utilizing skilled personnel familiar with working throughout the United States and overseas.

The Challenge:

We are seeking an Interior Designer to join our growing design team in our Chicago, IL or Washington D.C. (Chantilly, VA) office.

Principle areas of responsibility are:
  • Prepare plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules in CAD software.
  • Prepare quality presentations utilizing SketchUp, Enscape, Photoshop and other similar software.
  • Prepare construction documents in coordination with multi-discipline project team.
  • Select structural interior design materials and finishes based on project requirements.
  • Select GSA approved furniture, fixtures & equipment to support function of project.
  • Prepare color boards for client review.
  • Manage physical samples.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in interior design from an accredited university
  • 3-5 years of design experience, with demonstrated ability for space planning.
  • NCIDQ Certification is a plus and preferred.
  • Proficient using Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using SketchUp, Enscape and Photoshop preferred.
  • Knowledge of Construction Documents.
  • Strong design and graphic illustration skills preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Some domestic travel may be required, ability to travel internationally is preferred.
  • Experience with facilities for clients in the Federal Government sector is highly desirable.

Certifications & Licensures of the Position:
  • NCIDQ: required.
  • LEED Green Associate: preferred.

Salary Base:

This full-time position as an Interior Designer, level III, has an annual base range of $56,000-$74,000. This position is eligible for overtime in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements. The actual hourly rate is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
