The Aerospace Services Capture Manager reports to the Senior Director of Business Development for Aerospace Services under the Facilities Solutions Group (FSG) and will play a pivotal role in our team, contributing significantly to key strategic growth initiatives and other high-profile capture efforts. The successful candidate will take charge of developing and executing a comprehensive business development strategy that encompasses all facets of Akima's core aerospace offerings, with a specific focus on expanding our Aerospace Servies capabilities.
We are seeking a self-starter with a proven track record in developing successful capture campaigns and delivering winning proposals for opportunities in both the small business and full and open markets in the continental United States (CONUS) and Outside Continental United States (OCONUS). The selected candidate will have ownership and responsibility for the entire capture evolution, from participating in opportunity identification and qualification to managing teaming and solution strategies, concept of operations (CONOPS) development, and strategic pricing, and implementing these strategies up to and throughout proposal development. Additionally, the Aerospace Services Capture Manager will participate in seamlessly transitioning capture efforts to execution. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to and shape the growth of our aerospace capabilities within Akima.

Responsibilities
- Conduct market assessments and lead business development activities for Akima's Aerospace Services Capability, with an emphasis on Aviation Services. Specific focus will be applied on aerospace/aviation support, that include organizational and intermediate level maintenance, depot level maintenance, repair and refit, contractor logistics support, ground-based support equipment and vehicle maintenance; and aviation related training.
- Identify and qualify new business development opportunities and oversee the capture management and proposal development processes.
- Develop engagement strategies for each opportunity, including identifying key stakeholders and decision makers and their motivations and hot buttons.
- Determine teaming requirements, identify and qualify industry partners, and lead teaming discussion
- Maintain pipeline accuracy.
- Participate in the development of annual and long-range strategic business plans.
- Support Senior Business Development and corporate leadership in staying aware of and preparing new business development opportunities.
- Forge and nurture relationships with key Government customers, including US Air Force customers in Air Combat Command (ACC), Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Air Mobility Command (AMC), Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). To include Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), Army Contracting Command (ACC) - Redstone Arsenal, PEO Aviation and its Project Offices (e.g. FWPO, Utility Helicopters, Cargo Helicopters) as well as US Navy - NAV AIR and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA Aviation).
Qualifications
- Ten plus (10+) years of progressive experience in Business Development or Program Operations in the DOD contracting environment.
- Four plus (4+) years of experience with the capture and proposal processes specific to Aircraft Maintenance in the DoD contracting environment.
- Current SECRET clearance or ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications; Experience in technical writing.
- Prior government/military service or contractor experience in core business areas of aviation, airfields, logistics, services, and fuels.
- Four (4) year degree from an accredited university. Active-Duty Military experience and DoD schools and training may be substituted for consideration against the education requirements.
- Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding military aviation maintenance operations and approaches used in aircraft maintenance, for both flight line (O-level) and intermediate (I-level) maintenance including logistics and readiness software.
- Expertise in DoD maintenance concepts and regulations, including FAR/DFARS, NAVAIR, Army AMCOM, and USAF AFLCMC sustainment frameworks.
- Proven knowledge of aircraft sustainment and lifecycle logistics, including PBL (Performance-Based Logistics), CLS, organic/contractor maintenance integration, and readiness metrics (MC/FMC rates).
- Familiarity with aviation maintenance manpower, training, and certification requirements, including A&P, military MOS/AFSC/NEC alignment, QA, safety, and airworthiness standards.
- Strong grasp of maintenance IT and data environments, including GCSS-Army, NALCOMIS, IMDS, and condition-based maintenance (CBM+) concepts.
- Experience supporting captures involving modification, reset, corrosion control, phase maintenance, and depot induction for legacy and modern aircraft fleets.
- Ability to translate technical maintenance requirements into compliant capture strategies, win themes, and solution architectures aligned with customer CONOPS and readiness drivers.
- Working knowledge of supply chain and spares management as it relates to aviation maintenance, including DLA interfaces, provisioning, repairable, and AOG response.
