In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4600 Wood Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision

IDEAL CANDIDATE: Knowledge of a range of materials and techniques used in the packing of freight items with unusual and irregular shapes, sensitive parts, or similar features. Skill in construction of wooden items to store and ship items; skill in construction of blocks, braces, and framing members to contain cargo of irregular shapes, sizes, and weights.Skill in the operation of small material moving tractors, warehouse tugs, and forklifts up to 10,000 pound capacity. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

- Secures a variety offreightsuch as heavy, unbalanced machinery, vehicles and other roHing stock, aircraft
parts, munitions, rockets, missiles; sensitive electronic equipment, and other odd-shaped cargo. - Plans the construction of, and custom builds, wooden supply, storage, or shipping containers with exteriors of
irregular shape and unusual size, and interior support brackets which must be custom cut and built to fit around,
against, and at places of irregular size and shape. - Loads items in conveyances (includes rail, motor vehicle, and aircraft).
- Serves as brake switcher to govern the movement of railroad cars on the installation.
- Operates a variety of material moving equipment in the performance of duties.

- Selectee may be required to obtain a US Motor Vehicle Permit to operate materials handling equipment such as forklifts and power jacks.
- Selectee may be required to attend necessary training for preservation packaging and also training to become qualified to certify hazardous materials for shipment in accordance with Air Force directives/regulations.
- Selectee will be required to maintain a Weighmaster License issued by the State of California.
- Position requires appropriate hazardous materials handling/transporting certifications, licenses and commercial driver license (CDL) hazardous materials endorsements.
- Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC), Hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) require Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved technician certification program: 1990 Clean Air Act and will be required to complete First Responders Awareness training
- Select will be required to obtain training and certification within the timeline established by the work center supervisor and to maintain those certifications without a break in certification for the duration of occupying this position.
