Advance Geodatabase Solutions for the Marine Corps
The Marine Corps Intelligence Activity (MCIA) is building a unified, enterprise geospatial capability to seamlessly integrate, manage, and share intelligence data across military, Intelligence Community, and mission partner networks. Enterprise geodatabases are central to MCIA’s mission, providing high-performance, reliable access to geospatial data that drives operational decisions, enables secure collaboration, and supports data discovery across classified and unclassified networks.
As a GIS Geodatabase Engineer, you will embed within the Marine Corps Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Enterprise (MCISRE) to design, enhance, and sustain the backbone of MCIA’s geospatial capability. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex data and performance challenges, improving system resiliency, and ensuring geospatial architectures can scale to meet evolving mission demands. Your work will ensure MCIA’s enterprise geodatabases deliver reliable, scalable, and secure access to critical geospatial data for the Marine Corps and Intelligence Community.
For full transparency: This position is contingent upon a pending contract award expected with an anticipated start date in late Summer or early Fall 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who want to plan ahead and be considered early for a mission-driven role supporting the Marine Corps.
Core Responsibilities:
• Provide on-site and on-call support for geodatabase enhancement, migration, and advanced problem-solving as needed
• Update and improve geodatabase backup, restore, and recovery procedures to ensure data resiliency
• Develop and maintain tools to ingest, export, and transform geospatial data across multiple schemas, including USMC, Topographic Data Store, and NSG-compliant standards
• Monitor and optimize geodatabase performance to ensure reliable operation within the MCIA geospatial architecture
• Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support to maintain geodatabase functionality without constant on-site presence
• Collaborate with mission partners to ensure geodatabase solutions meet DoD and IC requirements
Requirements:
• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related discipline
• 12+ years of GIS experience, including 6+ years of hands-on work with ESRI enterprise software (ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, Image Server, ArcGIS Online)
• ESRI Geodatabase SME with an Enterprise Certification
• CompTIA Security+ certification (required for system-level access and support responsibilities)
• Oracle certification, with extensive experience implementing ESRI enterprise geodatabases on Oracle, including security hardening and vulnerability resolution
• Solid programming, scripting, and data integration skills (e.g., Python, SQL, .NET, R, ETL) to automate geodatabase workflows and enhance performance
• Knowledge of DoD and IC standards for geospatial data and secure dissemination across classified and unclassified networks
