Job Overview:

We are seeking a System and/or Network Administrator to manage, configure, and troubleshoot the IT infrastructure for a multi-faceted international team. Based in Australia, this position will focus on ensuring the availability and performance of desktop systems, voice, and video collaboration technologies. You will work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with both local and global teams to ensure seamless IT operations. As an OCONUS position, you’ll be responsible for supporting critical communications and network infrastructure in a remote, mission-critical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Desktop System Management:
Administer and maintain desktop operating systems (Windows, Linux) for end users.
Provide user support for desktop-related issues, including software installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Ensure desktop security, including updates, patches, and antivirus management.
Coordinate with end-users to provide timely resolutions to hardware and software problems.

Network Administration:
Manage and configure network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
Ensure reliable and high-performance network connectivity, both locally and across remote sites.
Perform regular network monitoring to detect and resolve potential issues.
Implement network security measures, including VPNs, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).

Voice and Video Collaboration Systems:
Administer and support voice (VoIP) and video conferencing systems (e.g. Cisco Jabber and Cisco VTC family of products
Troubleshoot and resolve voice and video call quality issues, including network-related problems and device configurations.
Install, configure, and maintain collaboration tools (hardware and software) for video conferencing rooms, mobile devices, and desktops.
Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure continuous availability and enhancement of collaboration systems.

Security and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with organizational and governmental security policies.
Regularly update system configurations and patch management protocols for critical software and hardware.
Implement and enforce data backup and disaster recovery procedures.
Perform system and network audits to detect and resolve security vulnerabilities.

Collaboration and Support:
Provide technical support to end-users and global teams, especially related to desktop systems and collaboration tools.
Assist with the onboarding of new employees, including setting up desktop systems and configuring collaboration tools.
Work with international teams to troubleshoot and solve complex system and network issues.
Coordinate IT support for large-scale projects and transitions, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.

Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, network architecture, and troubleshooting procedures.
Generate periodic reports on network and system performance, security, and incident response.
Document and communicate IT-related issues and resolutions to management and team members.

Required Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in system and network administration, ideally in a similar OCONUS or international environment.
Experience managing and troubleshooting desktop systems (Windows, Linux, Cisco Phones).
Active directory experience
ServiceNow Knowledge a Plus
Cisco Web Proxy and Email Relay Knowledge a Plus
Proven expertise in configuring and maintaining enterprise-level voice (VoIP) and video collaboration systems.
Knowledge of network devices and protocols (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, etc.).
Experience with cloud-based collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Jabber / MeetMe).

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server and Linux systems.
In-depth knowledge of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing.
Expertise in VoIP and video conferencing hardware and software setup and management.
Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Nagios, etc.).
Strong knowledge of system security tools and protocols (e.g., VPN, IPSec, SSL, two-factor authentication).

Certifications (Preferred):
CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent certifications.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.
Certification in Video Conferencing platforms (e.g., Cisco, Polycom).

Soft Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, customer-focused approach.
Willingness to provide 24/7 support during critical periods.

Working Conditions:

Location: OCONUS position based in Australia, with potential for occasional travel to other regions.
Schedule: Regular business hours with occasional extended hours or weekend support for critical issues.
Security Clearance: Candidates with TS//SCI and Poly are preferred
Work Environment: In office presence is required for hardware maintenance and network management.
