Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to To manage the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Program for the 58th Special Operations Wing (58 SOW) in accordance with this description, CCAF publications, and Headquarters (HQ) Air Education and Training Command (AETC) publications. Work will include administrative functions and frequent interaction with personnel.

Duties
  • Manages and administers the 58 SOW CCAF program
  • Conduct studies and evaluates statistical information for inclusion in monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for submission to higher headquarters
  • Maintains a comprehensive CCAF program college/university directory
  • Maintains contacts with colleges, universities, and unit individuals seeking a CCAF degree

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management/Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of an extensive body of rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of flying training programs to perform a wide variety of assignments involved in the development of academic training schedules for student classes which meet syllabus objectives; knowledge of the organization's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources and use basic analytical methods and techniques to determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in the scheduling function; knowledge of the flying training program mission and objectives to perform assignments and resolve a wide range of issues using accepted practices; knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data, and maintain accurate files; ability to use a variety of computer programs/software to enter, maintain, sort, retrieve information, and produce a variety of standardized documents.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in -grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of education procedures and practices of college-level education programs and accrediting processes.
  • Knowledge of communication techniques, principles, and regulations to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in response to work-related problems and questions. Knowledge of AETC and CCAF testing methodologies and guidance for to students maintain affiliation requirements.
  • Knowledge of payment and refund procedures at all local colleges and universities and base finance; Knowledge of personal computer and associated equipment.
  • Skill in counseling students on establish educational objectives and preparing reports.
  • Skill in integrating a variety of types of software to generate products for a single purpose.
  • Ability to formulate, justify, and execute assigned budget.

  • PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

    VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
