Build Mission-Critical Geospatial Solutions for the Marine Corps
This is your opportunity to support the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity (MCIA) and play a key role in delivering geospatial intelligence that informs decisions across the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.
As a GIS Developer, you’ll be embedded within the Marine Corps Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Enterprise (MCISRE), developing modern, user-focused geospatial tools that empower intelligence professionals to discover, visualize, and share critical geospatial data across multiple classified networks. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and enjoys turning complex requirements into scalable, practical solutions.
For full transparency: This position is contingent upon a pending contract award, which is expected to be announced in late February, offering an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to plan ahead and be considered early for a mission-driven role supporting the Marine Corps.
Core Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain modern GIS applications and web-based geospatial tools that improve access to and usability of geospatial intelligence
• Support MCIA’s mission to provide a secure, centralized geospatial data platform used across classified and unclassified environments
• Enhancing MCIA’s online geospatial portal through product development, metadata integration, and feature improvements
• Collaborate with mission partners to ensure solutions align with DoD and IC standards
Requirements:
• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, or a related field, with 4+ years of relevant experience
◦ Or 8+ years of experience in lieu of degree
• CompTIA Security+ certification (required for system-level access and support responsibilities)
• Hands-on experience with GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, Image Server, ArcSDE, QGIS)
• Solid programming, scripting, and web development skills using languages such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, Java, .NET, HTML, and CSS
• Experience developing and supporting enterprise GIS applications and web-based geospatial tools, including system documentation, testing, and validation to ensure secure, reliable performance
• Experience supporting geospatial tools across classified and unclassified networks in accordance with DoD and IC standards
