The Opportunity:
- CACI is seeking a mid-level Systems Engineer to support Operations and Maintenance (O&M), limited Research and Development (R&D), and procurement of data and information-processing capabilities under the SCION IV contract. This role supports the United States Space Force Combat Forces Command (CFC) within a fast-paced, mission-driven operational environment
- This is an execution-focused role supporting operational systems
- You will work as part of an interdisciplinary engineering team providing direct support to operational units across the globe.
- The role blends systems engineering discipline with hands-on execution, supporting real-world mission systems rather than purely theoretical designs
- You will provide engineering expertise across a varied set of hardware, software, and expeditionary equipment.
- Communicate highly technical information to all levels of the USSF's CFC teams and subordinate units
- You will have the opportunity to work with both co-located and remote engineering teams across the globe, along with providing on-site support to exercise events throughout the year
Responsibilities:
- Provide Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support for operational systems, including large fixed antenna systems, portable and expeditionary antenna systems, and associated RF and test equipment
- Troubleshoot RF, power, networking, and software issues affecting system availability or performance
- Perform hands-on system installations, upgrades, and sustainment at geographically dispersed locations
- Configure systems to meet mission- and customer-specific requirements, often under time constraints
- Investigate degraded or intermittent system performance and execute tuning, optimization, or corrective actions
- Conduct on-site system verification, acceptance testing, and operational turnover
- Maintain configuration baselines, redlines, and technical documentation in the Configuration Management Knowledge Base
- Write and update technical documentation, briefings, drawings, and delivery artifacts
- Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to track parts, validate spares, and support sustainment activities
- Communicate technical status, risks, and limitations clearly to engineers, operators, and leadership
- Support exercises and operational surges that may require evenings, weekends, or rapid reprioritization
- This is not a desk-only role. Engineers in this position are expected to be comfortable working in operational spaces and at remote sites with limited reach-back
Qualifications:
Required:
- Active TS/SCI clearance (polygraph may be required for Special Access Programs)
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Willingness to learn, teach, and share information in both co-located and distributed team environments
- Working understanding of RF systems, including design, propagation, and receiver performance
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals applied to operational environments
- Experience producing technical documentation such as technical volumes, white papers, and version description documents
- Strong attention to detail, active listening skills, and clear written and verbal communication
- Self-motivated and able to work independently at remote or operational sites
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds to support system installation, testing, and pack-out activities
Desired:
- Exposure to the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBoK) and interest in advancing SE best practices within USAF customer environments
- Experience integrating subsystems into larger systems (e.g., aircraft, ground vehicles, ships, fixed installations)
- Experience with antenna system maintenance, sub-system repair, or depot-level support
- Hands-on experience with RF measurement and test equipment
- Exposure to SIGINT production systems
- Familiarity with networking principles and experience working with classified networks
- Understanding of DoD acquisition practices
- DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification (Security+ or equivalent)
- Systems Engineering or Project Management certifications (ASEP, Project+)
