Summary
In support of the Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC) contract, you will be a part of our team's efforts to empower the Department of Defense's navigation warfare (NAVWAR) mission ensuring positioning, navigation, and timing superiority. Our mission is to provide combatant commanders and joint force commanders with subject matter expertise on planning and conducting NAVWAR by providing knowledge of friendly and enemy NAVWAR Order of Battle and PNT-related successes and threats.

ITAR Requirement:
T his position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations ("ITAR") and/or the Export Administration Regulations ("EAR"). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on AeroVironment's determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with AeroVironment's business requirements. A "U.S. person" according to the ITAR definition is a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual such as a refugee or asylee. See 22 CFR § 120.15. Summary

Position Responsibilities
- Review content of technical engineering documentation for quality.
- Produces technical engineering and scientific illustrations for presentations and/or publication, as appropriate to the requirements.
- Ensures that documents follow the style laid out in the style guide.
- Creates documents for publication both within the organization and externally using input from team members, stakeholders, research sources, and other content providers.
- Writes various technical articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for various uses.
- Integrates graphics, text, and other media to create presentations and publications.
- Coordinates production.
- Proofreads and edits correspondence, documents, memoranda, presentations, and other publication materials to ensure they conform to DoD spelling, grammar, and style standards.
- Assists content providers in identifying the appropriate medium and format for presentations and publications.
- Ensures content is of high quality and conforms to standards.
- Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts. Conducts quality reviews of materials.
- Responsible for producing, proofreading, editing, and formatting technical documentation, including design specifications, manuals, online help, procedures, plans, and proposals. Edits and formats information for consumption through various media channels, including printed materials, scripted voice content, email, websites, and other electronic access points. Gathers information, interviews subject matter experts, and conducts other research to convey technical material in a concise and effective manner.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communication, or equivalent discipline is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 5-8 years' experience as a technical writer/editor in the aviation, aerospace, or defense field with Bachelor's degree OR
- Prefer prior editing experience with DoD or government agencies.
- BA/BS in English, communications, journalism, computer science, web design, engineering, or a related field.
- Prefer Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC), Certified Technical Professional (CTP) or other equivalent.
- Current SECRET clearance
