Insight Global is hiring a Senior Application Support Engineer with strong Python expertise to support, maintain, and enhance business-critical applications in a production environment.
This is a Senior level role and ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering, operations, and customer impact—owning incident resolution, driving automation, and improving system reliability at scale.
You will act as a technical escalation point, collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams, and proactively identify opportunities to improve application performance, stability, and supportability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 application support for mission-critical systems in a production environment
Diagnose and resolve complex application issues using Python, logs, metrics, and debugging tools
Develop and maintain Python scripts and tools for automation, monitoring, data analysis, and operational efficiency
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term fixes to prevent recurring incidents
Monitor application health, performance, and availability using observability and alerting tools
Collaborate with software engineers to support releases, deployments, and post-deployment validation
Participate in on-call rotations and incident response efforts as needed
Create and maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and support procedures
Identify and recommend improvements to system architecture, support processes, and tooling
Serve as a mentor to junior support engineers and contribute to team best practices
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Application Support, Production Support, or Site Reliability Engineering
Strong proficiency in Python, including scripting, debugging, and building support tooling
Experience supporting distributed systems, APIs, or microservices in a production environment
Solid understanding of Linux/Unix systems, processes, and networking fundamentals
Hands-on experience with log analysis, monitoring, and alerting tools
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues under pressure
Experience working with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
We are hiring multiple candidates immediately and exact pay will vary based on experience. We anticipate paying 80k - 140K for this opening.
