We are seeking a seasoned and technically strong Technical Product Owner to support a mission-critical program within a classified environment. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in software development, system architecture, and Agile product ownership, and is comfortable translating complex technical requirements into prioritized, executable product backlogs.
You will serve as the primary interface between stakeholders, engineering teams, and leadership—owning product vision, roadmap, and delivery while ensuring alignment with mission objectives, security requirements, and architectural standards.
Responsibilities
Own and manage the product roadmap, backlog, and prioritization for one or more complex software systems
Translate mission and business requirements into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria
Work closely with software engineers, architects, DevSecOps, and stakeholders to guide design and implementation decisions
Ensure product features align with system architecture, security requirements, and compliance standards
Participate in system architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical trade studies
Lead Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term technical strategy and sustainability
Provide clarity and direction to development teams by answering questions, resolving ambiguity, and removing blockers
Support integration, testing, deployment, and operational readiness activities
Communicate product status, risks, and priorities to leadership and external stakeholders
Required Skills
10+ years of experience in software development, systems engineering, or technical product ownership
Strong background in software engineering (hands-on development experience preferred)
Proven experience serving as a Product Owner or similar role in Agile/Scrum environments
Deep understanding of modern software architectures, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
Experience working with DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD tools
Hands-on familiarity with tools such as Git, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, and CI/CD platforms
Ability to read, understand, and discuss code (e.g., Java, Python, C++, or similar)
Experience working in classified or highly regulated environments
Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex problems into actionable work
Excellent communication skills—able to engage technical and non-technical audiences
Must be a US Citizen with a current TS/SCI clearance with FS Polygraph
Desired Skills
Experience working within a DevSecOps framework
Prior experience as a software developer or systems architect
Familiarity with cloud and on-prem environments (AWS, VMware, Kubernetes, etc.)
SAFe, Scrum, or other Agile certification (CSPO, CSP-PO, SAFe PO/PM)
