Summary

CAE USA, Defense & Security welcomes experienced software engineers to help train U.S. Armed Forces and those of our partners around the world. This is a rewarding mission you will be proud to support.

You will design, develop, test, and integrate real-time weapon simulations for military training devices. This is a hands-on, full life cycle software engineering position for entry-level software engineers who desire to grow beyond traditional boundaries and create enduring solutions for a truly meaningful purpose.

Affinity for aviation and flight skills not required - but this role will provide the opportunity to develop both!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate dynamic weapon flight simulation solutions
  • Develop, debug, and test autopilot and guidance algorithms
  • Develop control laws to meet weapon performance, trajectory and stability requirements
  • Perform trajectory design, optimization, and analysis for weapons
  • Utilize MATLAB and analytical tools to model weapon performance with provided flight test data and weapon documentation
  • Learn skills in a variety of domains from experienced engineers
  • Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills to work efficiently with other team and project members


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Coursework, job experience or personal exploration of software development in C++, Python, FORTRAN or Ada
  • Ability to quickly grasp and navigate complex systems and detailed requirements.
  • Experience using MATLAB to analyze, create, process, and visually represent data
  • Clear communication and organizational skills including code documentation and creation of training materials
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of equations of motion, guidance and control laws
  • Knowledge of flight controls design and analysis for weapons systems
  • Knowledge of state estimation - Kalman filtering, sensor fusion, etc.
  • Experience creating aerodynamic and propulsion models
  • Experience with high performance computing systems
  • Experience with real-time simulation
  • Game engine development
  • Containerization / Virtualization


Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.


Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment

Highly collaborative closed room environment with open office space for unclassified tasks. Job duties include regular interaction with fixed base, full cockpit military aircraft simulators, and include the opportunity to learn to fly the aircraft simulation.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Be able to sit in a standard size fighter aircraft cockpit.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs.
