Role Overview
This position provides senior systems engineering support for the C-17 Globemaster aircraft program. The role focuses on systems integration, airworthiness, safety, lifecycle sustainment, and risk management to ensure aircraft systems remain operationally safe, effective, and supportable throughout their lifecycle.
Required Qualifications:
Experience & Education
• 10+ years of systems engineering experience
• 5+ years supporting DoD programs
• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or technical field
Technical Expertise
• Aircraft systems engineering experience (required)
• Systems engineering across hardware, software, and ground-based systems
• Avionics integration or Nuclear Hardening / HRIF / EME experience
• Risk modeling, simulation, testing, and evaluation
• Human Systems Integration (HSI) and crew station engineering
• Interoperability requirements and airworthiness certification
Tools & Systems (Preferred)
• Integrated Electronic Technical Management System (IETMS)
• Joint Computer-Aided Acquisition and Logistics Support (JCALS)
• Application software, operating systems, networks, and storage platforms as they relate to system architecture

Key Responsibilities:
1. Systems Engineering & Integration
• Perform systems engineering across design, integration, manufacturing, quality, configuration management, and data management.
• Provide system integration guidance to aircraft program offices and government stakeholders.
• Support system installation, modification, and maintenance activities.
• Review and analyze technical proposals and system modifications for design feasibility and system capability.
• Assist in developing and reviewing system design baselines, including architecture and interoperability requirements.
2. Airworthiness, Safety & OSS&E
• Execute AFPD 62-6 (USAF Airworthiness) processes and support flight authorizations.
• Apply Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) and airworthiness processes.
• Conduct safety analyses, risk assessments, and provide mitigation recommendations.
• Address high-priority safety and airworthiness issues impacting flight and mission readiness.
3. Analysis, Risk & Trade Studies
• Conduct systems analyses including:
o Design feasibility
o State-of-the-art assessments
• Perform:
o Performance effectiveness assessments
o Cost effectiveness and lifecycle cost analysis
o Maintainability, reliability, and supportability evaluations
o Schedule and technical risk assessments
• Conduct trade-off studies using:
o Cost vs capability analysis
o Multi-Objective Decision Analysis (MODA)
o Set-based design approaches
4. Failure Analysis & Technical Assessment
• Review and assess program-specific databases.
• Analyze Built-In Test (BIT) failure reports.
• Compare BIT failure reports against BIT interpreter analyzer outputs to validate accuracy.
• Provide recommendations based on failure data trends and system diagnostics.
5. Lifecycle & Sustainment Support
• Assist in developing, deploying, and maintaining processes ensuring weapon systems are:
o Fully integrated
o Sustainment-ready
o Configuration-managed
o Operationally safe and effective
• Support all stages of the system development lifecycle:
o Initiation
o Design
o Integration
o Testing & Evaluation
o Deployment

6. Technical Leadership & Communication
