Directory Services Engineer (IdAM / ICAM)
Program Description:
This role supports a federal Identity and Access Management (IdAM) program as a Directory Services Engineer within a classified ICAM environment. The team is responsible for both engineering directory-based identity solutions and operating enterprise directory platforms that underpin mission-critical identity services.
There are two openings under this single role, each with a different technical emphasis:
Engineering / Virtualization Focus:
Engineers the identity data layer by designing directory virtualization, identity correlation, and integration logic.
Platform / Operations Focus:
Owns the installation, integration, and operation of directory services platforms as production identity infrastructure.
Both openings are engineering roles. We are seeking directory services engineers, not administrators. Candidates may be stronger in one area than the other; responsibilities will be aligned based on experience and strengths.
This is an opportunity to help stand up and evolve a world-class ICAM capability, shaping how identity data is modeled, delivered, and operated in a high-security environment.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
(Responsibilities may vary based on which opening the candidate fills)
Engineer, integrate, and support enterprise directory services platforms within IdAM environments
Design and implement directory virtualization pipelines and identity correlation logic
Build and maintain identity integrations across LDAP, Active Directory, SQL, REST APIs, and other sources
Install, configure, integrate, and operate directory platforms as production identity infrastructure
Support Linux-based deployments, service troubleshooting, and system diagnostics
Integrate directory services with IAM capabilities such as SSO, MFA, PAM, and IGA platforms
Participate in designing architectures that balance security, scalability, and mission needs
Support high availability, clustering, performance tuning, and resilience
Troubleshoot complex identity and directory issues at the platform, data, and integration level
Collaborate with IAM architects, engineers, and stakeholders to translate mission requirements into technical solutions
