ASRC Federal Agile Management is seeking a Systems Engineer III to support an upcoming DHS program. This position will require the Systems Engineer III to work onsite in Ashburn, VA.

Summary: The Systems Engineer III will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and optimization of technology solutions that support the mission of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Office of Information and Technology. This position requires a deep understanding of system architecture and engineering principles to ensure the effective operation of applications and devices utilized by the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD). The Systems Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance system performance, reliability, and security.

The Systems Engineer III is responsible for analyzing system requirements, designing technical solutions, and coordinating the integration of complex systems within the organization. This role involves ensuring that technical systems align with both business objectives and compliance standards established by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The Systems Engineer will also engage in troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and documentation of system changes to support ongoing operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, coordinate and/or perform additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems, and attached devices, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
  • Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware and operating systems including the evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems.
  • Troubleshoot the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level working with communication protocols.
  • Participate in planning design, technical review and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks. Ensure meeting project specifications and user requirements.
  • Maintain network infrastructure standards including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP.
  • Provide technical consultation, training and support for IT staff as designated by the government.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems.
  • Collaborate with IT and project management teams to understand system specifications and translate them into functional requirements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot system issues, providing timely solutions to enhance system availability and performance.
  • Document system architecture designs, configurations, and operational processes for ongoing reference and compliance.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure that systems are compatible with security standards and organizational policies.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to provide insights regarding system enhancement opportunities and issues resolution.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field with 8 years of experience in IT support or a related field, preferably in a government or large organizational setting OR Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of systems integration, network systems, and application development principles.
  • Familiarity with IT security standards and practices, particularly those relevant to the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • US Citizenship to successfully complete a government issued background investigation.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust.
