Our team provides creative solutions and systems to the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and supporting commands. We are seeking a talented Submarine IP Network Analytics Engineer who can develop and lead the installation of IP network hardware and software systems. As a member of our team, you'll join a well rounded group of engineers and analysts who are passionate about applying state-of-the-art engineering to identify and tackle complicated problems and are committed to developing and delivering impactful products. As a Submarine IP Network Analytics Engineer, you will...

  • Lead and contribute to teams installing hardware and software capabilities for sensing and monitoring IP traffic on operational US Navy Platforms
  • Provide training and operational support to uniformed Navy personnel
  • Train and mentor staff members in networking and routing hardware and software
  • Develop data analysis and automation tools and algorithms
  • Collaborate with program leadership and develop teams to assess the impact that proposed hardware, software, and algorithm changes will have on collection systems operations
  • Develop tailored alerting capabilities
  • Support task planning activities by creating workflows for briefing collaborators, executing training, and integrating technical capabilities
  • Work alongside US Navy users to observe use cases and explain software features and collection products
  • Travel up to 75% to CONUS and OCONUS locations

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have. . .
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field
  • Expertise in submarine TCP/IP communications and mission centric data analysis,
  • Three or more years relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing IP network traffic using Arkime, Elastic Search, and Kibana
  • Experience developing and deploying IP network monitoring systems at shore-based and deployed operational Navy platforms
  • Experience deploying, operating, or sustaining Elastic Stack components in operational or research environments
  • Experience developing alerting, monitoring, or situational awareness capabilities for IP networks
  • Hold an active Top Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
