Position Summary
The Journeyman Telecommunications Engineering Specialist provides mid-level technical support for the installation, operation, maintenance, and security of telecommunications systems supporting U.S. government defense missions. This role supports both classified and unclassified environments, ensuring communication systems remain reliable, secure, and compliant with Department of Defense (DoD) operational and cybersecurity standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Install, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems supporting voice, data, and network transport services
• Support secure and non-secure communications infrastructure in accordance with DoD standards and mission requirements
• Monitor system performance, availability, and integrity to ensure operational readiness and compliance
• Perform fault isolation, diagnostics, and corrective maintenance on telecommunications equipment
• Support system upgrades, technology refreshes, and integration efforts
• Document system configurations, procedures, network diagrams, and operational changes
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and engineering teams to support mission objectives
• Respond to system outages, incidents, and service requests in a timely manner
• Support inspections, audits, and accreditation activities as required under DoD policies

Required Qualifications
• Active Top Secret (TS) clearance
• Journeyman-level experience in telecommunications engineering or a related technical discipline
• 3–5 years of experience supporting telecommunications or network systems in a DoD or enterprise environment
• Hands-on experience with telecommunications infrastructure (voice, data, transport, or network systems)
• Familiarity with DoD operational and security requirements
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a mission-critical, classified environment

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting Air Force or DoD telecommunications systems
• Knowledge of secure communications or classified network environments
• Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, or telecommunications-related certifications)
• Experience supporting systems in both classified and unclassified settings
