This role involves direct engagement with Federal agencies, industry partners, and national laboratories to advance cyber preparedness, information sharing, and cyber initiatives. The ideal candidate will hold an active high‑level security clearance and bring a hands-on perspective to complex energy cybersecurity challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical and analytical support across a range of cyber policy, preparedness, and energy-sector cybersecurity programs.
- Conduct assessments and provide insights related to intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), industrial control systems (ICS), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technologies, and related communications protocols (e.g., MODBUS, DNP3, PROFINET, S7COMM).
- Support efforts to secure operational technology (OT) networks, incorporating understanding of the Purdue model and broader OT cybersecurity practices.
- Analyze and contribute to the development of tools, processes, or programs that ingest, store, and analyze large or unstructured data sets, including in cloud environments.
- Assist government clients through collaboration with interagency partners, industry stakeholders, and national laboratories.
- Identify potential risks, gaps, or issues and present clear recommendations or resolutions.
- Prepare briefings, technical documentation, and reports as requested.
- Coordinate with DOE offices, partner agencies, and ICF colleagues to ensure alignment of efforts and successful execution of tasks.
- Apply energy‑sector threat analysis and critical infrastructure cybersecurity insights to ongoing DOE initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of total professional experience, including cybersecurity or related technical experience
- Active High-Level security clearance
Additional Qualifications
- Experience implementing intrusion detection systems (IDS) or intrusion prevention systems (IPS)
- Experience analyzing and developing programs that ingest, store, process, and analyze large or unstructured data sets
- Experience securing operational technology (OT) networks and familiarity with the Purdue model
- Familiarity with cloud storage and optimization practices
- Experience working with industrial control systems (ICS) / SCADA systems and related protocols (e.g., MODBUS, DNP3, PROFINET, S7COMM)
- Energy-sector cybersecurity experience, such as threat analysis or critical energy infrastructure exposure
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Prior Federal experience
- Consulting experience on government contracts
- Understanding of operational technology vulnerabilities and cybersecurity standards, frameworks, and practices
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain organized workflows
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
