Senior Information System Security Officer

Salary Range: $100,000 to $200,000 per year

Starting salary is based on minimum education and years of experience and increases based on education and/or experience.

Seeking a highly skilled Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to lead security oversight across a large, complex software development and systems-integration environment. In this role, you'll partner with cybersecurity experts, engineers, and program leadership to safeguard high-value systems, strengthen security architecture, and ensure compliance with evolving standards. You'll shape and maintain the security posture of diverse platforms-guiding secure development practices, assessing risks, monitoring vulnerabilities, and driving remediation strategies that protect sensitive data and critical workflows. Security Clearance Requirements:

This position requires all candidates to be U.S. citizens and possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with a polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce information systems security policies, methodologies, and best practices.
• Perform Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) management, remediation, and reporting.
• Develop, maintain, and update system security documentation, including SSPs and C&A artifacts.
• Collaborate closely with the ISSM to uphold the program's IA posture.
• Maintain the operational security posture for assigned information systems.
• Conduct security evaluations to ensure systems meet all certification and compliance requirements.
• Maintain technical records for workstations, servers, network devices, and security appliances.
• Analyze cyber threats and develop strategies for incident detection, reporting, and remediation.
• Manage security‑related configuration changes across software, hardware, and firmware.
• Support evaluation and deployment of security solutions for multi‑classification environments.
• Develop, update, and enforce system‑specific security policies.
• Administer user identification and authentication mechanisms for assigned systems.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

• 10+ years of hands‑on ISSO experience supporting secure system operations in isolated, connected, and standalone environments.
• 5+ years supporting the preparation and maintenance of SSPs and other security documentation.
• 5+ years administering tools supporting IAVA management.

Required Skills:

• Proven experience with security tools, hardware/software security implementation, encryption technologies, and communication protocols.
• Extensive experience evaluating software architectures and systems for compliance with security requirements.
• Background implementing and enforcing security policies on large‑scale software or IT programs.
• Demonstrated success delivering day‑to‑day security operations for complex systems.
• Self‑motivated, solutions‑oriented, and committed to best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 12+ years of relevant experience supporting large‑scale software development or integration programs.
• DoD 8570 Compliance:
  • IAT Level II or higher
  • IAM Level II or higher
