SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ-03, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes applying technical work to modeling and simulation systems that support developmental and operational test and evaluation (DT&E and OT&E) test programs.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- 2 years experience with computer programming or Information Technology support desired
- 2 years experience with simulator operations or maintenance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Para-professional knowledge of the concepts, principles, and techniques of electronics engineering, and the
related knowledge of aeronautical and mechanical engineering concerned with avionics and flight simulation.
2. Expert knowledge in the design and fabrication of: simulation cockpits, hardware interfaces, electrical layouts,
electrical hardware, digital computers, and various data display electronic systems.
3. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance for high-end computer equipment and networks.
4. Knowledge of test function, test instrumentation, test design, coordination, and supervision, data evaluation,
report preparation, facility, and administrative aspects of flight test programs.
5. Knowledge and skill sufficient to plan, organize, direct, and conduct the maintenance, operations and checkout
of unique simulators. Ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a
variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
6. Ability to maintain good working relations and to provide technical leadership and project management
oversight as well as communicate effectively with a broad range of personnel both orally and in writing and to use
modern computer software applications in support of communications and presentations.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

This is an acquisition demonstration project position NJ-04 equivalent to a GS-12 to GS-13.

- Provide advanced technical expertise for the design, development, integration, operation, and
maintenance of complex integrated person-in-the-loop modeling and simulation systems involving integrated
computer networks, image generation computers, projectors, cockpits, video systems, data storage systems,
helmets and helmet cuing systems, avionics line replaceable units (LRUs), pilot vehicle interface systems, and
avionics data networks along with the related physical/mechanical infrastructure to house and operate those
systems. - Develop, design, and fabricate simulation cockpits and cockpit interface subsystems for conventional
aircraft and advanced manned vehicles. Advises engineers and senior technicians on the feasibility of their
designs when required to obtain a more effective product or apply a more straightforward approach. - Resolves complex and obscure problems related, but not limited to, any one or a combination of digital
and analog processors, networks, video controls, cockpit displays systems, mechanical and electrical interfaces,
pilot vehicle interface (PVI) systems used to integrate models creating live, virtual and constructive battle space
environments. - Provides technical assistance to senior engineers and electronics technicians and contractor personnel in
various phases of projects. - Prepares maintenance routines, conducts the preventative and remedial maintenance, along with
troubleshooting procedures of the computing resources, electronic systems, aircraft cockpit instruments, image
generation computers, projectors, power supplies, and related simulator support equipment and infrastructure
that creates the live, viral, and constructive battle space environments.
