The Contractor shall provide fabrication and repair services such as machining and machine programming in accordance with applicable standards. These services include the manufacture and repair of routine, complex, and non-routine parts and items of equipment from raw stock of different metals, metal alloys, and other materials.

The Contractor shall operate one or more conventional or computer numerical control (CNC) machines to perform specific machining operations in the machining of castings, forgings, or other raw stocks made of various metals, metal alloys, and other materials.

The Contractor shall complete all tasks in accordance with applicable FAA and FAALC plans, standards, orders, technical instructions, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • The Contractor must possess skill in using various standard machine attachments such as rotary tables, magnetic chucks, gear changing boxes, angular drive heads, taper attachments, and universal milling attachments and have skill in performing precision work on parts that present complex configurations and close tolerances between interrelated surfaces.
  • The Contractor shall have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, program readouts, and technical directives to determine and obtain materials and cutting tools for the job and to visualize the finished part and critical surfaces, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • The Contractor shall functionally test or inspect fabricated items to assure that they conform to and fulfill the requirements of the FAA, original manufacturer's specifications, technical documents or modification instructions as applicable.
  • Machine and Tool Maintenance:
    • The Contractor shall perform Machine and Tool maintenance consisting of cleaning machines, emptying waste generated from machine operations, removal of soluble oil waste, and refilling coolant as necessary.
    • The Contractor shall follow the machine tool manufacturer's maintenance schedule and perform preventive maintenance in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
    • The Contractor shall keep records of all maintenance performed as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience (Machinist I). Experience shall include a two-year Industrial Technology degree developing basic manual skills on common machine shop equipment such as lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, grinders, radial drills, and drill presses. The experience must include operating computer numerical controlled CNC lathes, and CNC mills and familiarity with Haas and Fanuc CNC machine controls.
  • Knowledgeable experience in the utilization of manufacturing trade methods and techniques that relates to the career development as a machinist. Knowledge gained through the actual experience in product fabrication using conventional type and/or CNC machine tools. Knowledge, familiarization, and utilization in Computer Aided Machining software (CAM) is preferred. Knowledge and utilization in cutting tool theory, blueprint reading, shop math, measuring instruments, shop safety, and general shop tools is required. Knowledge of Haas and Fanuc CNC machine controls.
  • A high school diploma is required and an associate degree in Industrial Technology or four years or more in a manufacturing environment performing the career path of machinist.
  • NACI Clearance - ability to obtain Public Trust
  • Must possess TWO forms of unexpired identification to meet eligibility requirements.
    • One Primary form of government-issued identification, selected from the following:
      • Valid REAL ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued ID card.
      • U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Transportation ID Card.
      • U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card.
      • Permanent Resident Card (Form I-551).
      • U.S. Military or U.S. Military dependent's ID Card with photograph.
      • U.S. Government Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Card.
    • One secondary form of identification, such as:
      • Social security card.
      • Original or certified copy of a birth certificate.
      • certificate of U.S. Citizenship or Naturalization.
      • Voter registration card.
