El Segundo, CA (On-Site/Office)
About the program:
You will be joining an advanced initiative aimed at enhancing missile defense capabilities by utilizing assets positioned in orbit to detect, track, and neutralize incoming threats before they reach their targets. The effort involves integrating cutting-edge sensor technologies, advanced guidance systems, and precision engagement mechanisms to address emerging threats, including ballistic and hypersonic missiles. By intercepting threats at critical points in their flight trajectory, these systems complement naval missile defense networks, providing an added layer of security to safeguard national interests and global stability. MTSI is seeking a Ground Systems Engineer to support these efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Development & Integration of Common Ground Infrastructure:
Systems Engineering & Sustainment:
Common Ground Testing & Validation:
Cybersecurity & DoD Compliance:

By intercepting threats at critical points in their flight trajectory, these systems complement naval missile defense networks, providing an added layer of security to safeguard national interests and global stability. MTSI is seeking a Ground Systems Engineer to support these efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Development & Integration of Common Ground Infrastructure:
- Design and implement shared ground system architectures and frameworks to enable interoperability across multiple missile defense systems and platforms.
- Support modular hardware and software development that ensures flexibility and scalability for multi-program utilization within DoD environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate space-based, ground-based, and command-and-control systems into common ground platforms.
Systems Engineering & Sustainment:
- Provide engineering expertise for the sustainment and evolution of common ground systems, ensuring long-term operability and reliability.
- Perform diagnostics and analysis to resolve system-wide issues impacting common ground functionality.
- Support system upgrades, configuration changes, and lifecycle management to maintain optimal performance.
Common Ground Testing & Validation:
- Design test plans and procedures to evaluate the performance and interoperability of common ground elements across systems.
- Develop and execute system verification and validation processes to support mission requirements for shared infrastructure.
- Collaborate with teams conducting integration testing to ensure alignment with mission goals and DoD standards.
Cybersecurity & DoD Compliance:
- Implement cybersecurity measures specific to common ground systems in compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF), DISA STIGs, and other DoD policies.
- Monitor and enforce security controls across shared infrastructures, protecting classified data and maintaining operational integrity.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with engineers, program managers, and government stakeholders to ensure the Common Ground Team's infrastructure supports program objectives.
- Actively contribute to the architecture and technical direction of shared ground systems during stakeholder meetings and technical reviews.
- Provide detailed technical briefings, highlighting progress, risks, and recommendations to ensure leadership is informed and engaged.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with 15 years' related experience; Master's degree preferred.
Required Security Clearance:
- Must have an Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
- 5 years' prior experience for access to Special Access Program Information (SAP), or Controlled Access Program (CAP); must have 1 year in the last 5 years.
