Position Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Cloud Security Engineer to support secure cloud adoption and customer engagements. This role is responsible for designing, assessing, and documenting cloud security controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, and supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) and validation processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, risk assessment experience, and exceptional documentation skills.
Core Responsibilities
• Implement and maintain AWS security best practices across customer environments.
• Conduct comprehensive security assessments for cloud migration and modernization engagements.
• Develop threat models to identify potential vulnerabilities and attack vectors using established methodologies.
• Create and maintain security matrices documenting technical controls and compliance mappings.
• Prepare detailed security findings, risk analyses, and remediation recommendations.
• Develop and maintain Technical Operating Model (TOM) security plans.
• Document technical security controls in support of Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.
• Gather, organize, and manage compliance documentation across multiple regulatory frameworks.
• Coordinate with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to collect required security and compliance artifacts.
• Support post-pilot validation and operational phases with complete and accurate security documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
• Proven experience with security assessment methodologies and risk management frameworks.
• Expertise in threat modeling techniques, including STRIDE, PASTA, or similar methodologies.
• Strong technical writing, documentation, and reporting skills.
• Working knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST, ISO 27001, and related standards.
• Solid understanding of cloud security controls, architectures, and best practices within AWS environments.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical security concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience supporting ATO, authorization, or regulatory accreditation processes.
Preferred Qualifications
• AWS Security Specialty or related cloud security certifications.
• CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or similar security certifications.
• Experience working with government, regulated, or highly compliant environments.
• Prior consulting or professional services experience.
Physical Requirements:
• This position involves sedentary work with physical requirements expected for at least 50% of the time. Essential functions include prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and talking.
