• Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Medical Readiness Program, ensuring programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
• Develop and provide local Medical Disaster Program guidance to wing units including appropriate medical response and survival under a variety of emergency situations.
• Manage or consult on all medical homeland security programs and plans for the Medical Treatment Facility with the Air Force Base, other installations, Major Command Functional Area Manager and the local community.
• Conduct inspections and audits to measure the effectiveness of the various medical readiness functions in meeting goals and objectives.
• Ensure budget for equipment/supplies and training for response are forecasted and executed for the various readiness response teams.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• Incumbent must successfully complete the initial level of the Public Health Emergency Management Course within one year and complete sustainment training every subsequent 4 years in the role IAW DoDi 6200.03.
• Incumbent must successfully complete the Medical Readiness Management Course (MRMC) IAW AF guidance after selection.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing medical disaster guidance for a variety of emergency situations, developing criteria for exercising contingency response plans; and monitoring emergency response program operations to ensure action requirements are met. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Emergency Management.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages

Preferred: Experience of Incident Command System (ICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS) and FEMA Independent Study Program certifications (e.g., IS-100, IS-200).

• This position is designated as Key. For positions located within the Continental US (CONUS), the position cannot be vacated during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission.
• Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
