Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior NC3 Technical Writer/Technical Editor to develop, refine, and manage critical documentation supporting Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems and evaluation activities. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional writing ability, expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the capability to work independently in complex technical environments.
This role involves producing and editing a wide range of documentation-including manuals, reports, evaluation products, and technical materials-while collaborating with technical specialists and cross-functional teams.
The Tech Writer will assist in collecting and organizing information for preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports. Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents. Attention to detail, impeccable English usage, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly are essential.
Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI
Travel: 25-30%
Location: Offutt AFB, NE STRATCOM
Minimum Experience: 8+ years
Education: Degree not required (preferred); writing courses/certifications desired

Key Responsibilities
Technical Writing & Documentation
- Write and edit technical materials such as equipment manuals, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, appendices, and system documentation.
- Revise and refine reports, articles, briefs, manuals, specifications, presentation materials, and other technical documents.
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, organization, and user-appropriateness of all documentation.
- Gather, research, interpret, and synthesize information from technical specialists, SMEs, and engineering data.
- Apply field-specific standards, style guides, and formatting requirements to all published material.
Editing & Quality Assurance
- Review, proofread, and edit documentation to ensure proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and adherence to professional English usage.
- Manage document preparation, coordination, and archival processes-including editing, proofing, formatting compliance, routing, and status tracking.
- Ensure all external-facing deliverables meet organizational policies and formatting standards.
Content Management & Process Improvement
- Develop writing/editing policies, guidelines, and templates.
- Apply knowledge and experience to recommend improvements to documentation systems and processes.
- Drive and follow cross-team processes to ensure consistent document quality across programs.
- Establish and enforce style and usage guidelines across technical materials.
Advanced / Senior-Level Functions
- Operate independently in complex situations and technical environments.
- Perform all duties of lower tiers and additional responsibilities derived from senior-level expectations.
- Support technical organizations involved in developmental and operational evaluation activities.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Minimum 8 years of technical writing/editing experience, preferably in a technical, evaluation, or engineering environment.
- Strong writing skills and impeccable command of written English.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies rapidly.
- Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; others a plus).
- Ability to travel 25-30% of the time.
- Excellent communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish, maintain, and follow style guides and documentation standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple document workflows simultaneously.
Desired (Not Required)
- Degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Engineering, or related field.
- Professional writing/editing training, courses, or certifications.
- Experience supporting NC3, DoD test/evaluation, or similar technical programs.
