Job Description

AV is seeking an experienced Vice President to lead its Kinetic Air Missile Defense (AMD) Division Product Line in the development and delivery of complex kinetic effectors supporting our nation's defense mission. The successful candidate has overall accountability for product line bookings, customer satisfaction, project and product pricing, investment allocations, product road maps, and building the organization necessary to achieve the business goals. Reporting to the IAMD Senior Vice President GM, the lead supervises a core team of direct reports, up to and including Engineering, Program Management, Business Development, and Operations. This role requires expert execution of defense acquisition programs leveraging formal program management processes, rigorous risk management, and stakeholder engagement to deliver high-impact capabilities on time and within budget.

Position Responsibilities
  • Strategic oversight, governance and accountability of large-scale kinetic program solutions from initiation through sustainment, ensuring cost, schedule, and technical performance, P&L accountability, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Owns Orders, Pricing, Investment allocation, customer satisfaction and Profit & Loss for the product line.
  • Reports financial drivers, customer and market dynamics in business reviews.
  • Accountability and execution of the annual operating plan (AOP) and 5 years plan for the Product Line and collaborates with other leaders on synergies and strategy.
  • Supports the development of strategy at the company & segment level.
  • Strategic oversight and guidance in proposal development to support additional work scope and manage pre-award performance to budget.
  • Facilitates negotiations involving major project parameters such as deliverable definition and performance objectives (cost, schedule, quality).
  • Governance of integrated master schedules and earned value metrics, leading risk identification and mitigation efforts.
  • Identifies and manages project risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Guides multi-company and government teams to ensure seamless execution of technical, financial, contractual, and logistical program aspects.
  • Governs current and future development and production of the Product Line.
  • Accountable for pricing decisions and evaluates opportunities to support current and future business; approves bid / no bid and pricing gate reviews for all new business opportunities.
  • Establishes, tracks and analyzes product line performance metrics and takes action to address issues and/or opportunities.
  • Leads and oversees a team of direct reports including Product Line Management, Program Management; works well across the functional support functions to achieve mission objectives.
  • Cultivates relationships with key players in industry and government.
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Management, or a related technical or scientific discipline.
  • 15+ years relevant experience including extensive first-hand knowledge of Kinetic military market, competitors, and technologies
  • 10+ years of leadership experience Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, MIL-STD-881F WBS standards, and formal program management documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and interface effectively with government and industry stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and program management tools.


Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
  • Advanced degree in Organizational Leadership, Business, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), integrated master scheduling, and defense financial reporting tools.
  • Demonstrates strong computer skills and proficiency with office software, productivity tools and other software tools on one's area of expertise.
  • Experienced and comfortable with presenting to executive leadership up to company Board of Directors.
  • Display strong critical thinking skills, demonstrated ability to analyze and break down problems into components.
  • Ability to work on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercise judgment, strategic thinking, and best practices to determine appropriate action, yet also creatively thinks outside the box to find solutions to never-solved problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Uses vision to think beyond the immediate situation, explore multiple potential paths and adapt decision-making style based on the situational circumstances.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, reach, lift (up to 10 lbs.), bend, etc. Hand and wrist dexterity to utilize the computer.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.


Environmental Conditions Critical to Performance
  • Work is in an office environment, climate controlled through central air conditioning/heating.
  • May have some exposure to outside environment while traveling.


Special Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) required.
  • Must have an active Secret security clearance or higher.
  • Must be able to travel within the Continental U.S. and internationally when required.


Salary Range: $220,000 - $288,000
