About the Role
We are seeking a Programmer Lead to join a multi-disciplinary team supporting installation engineering and management functions for the U.S. Air Force Academy. This role plays a critical part in ensuring state-of-the-art facilities for cadets and future Air Force leaders.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the Facility Asset Management Plan (AMP) and coordinate project authorizations.
• Apply technical knowledge of Air Force Instructions (AFI 32-1032, AFI 32-1023) for planning and programming maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
• Define project scopes to meet mission needs and articulate benefits and impacts.
• Assist in writing and processing DoD Form 1391 for FSRM and MILCON projects.
• Develop rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimates using government-provided software.
• Prepare detailed deliverables: justifications, space calculations, site plans, funding timelines.
• Advise on Base Comprehensive Asset Management Plan (BCAMP) and Congressional funding documentation.
• Support pre-acquisition efforts and generate project lists (BCAMP, MILCON, UMMC, ERCIP).
• Collaborate with Civil Engineering Operations Flight and other mission partners.
• Perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to pass a government background check.
• U.S. Citizenship (naturalized or native-born).
• Commitment to an inclusive, collaborative work culture.
Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years of Air Force Civil Engineering Squadron programming experience.
• Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria.
• Completion of AFIT courses (WMGT 331, 417, 423; WENG 400 & 500).
• Familiarity with Air Force programming requirements (DAFMAN 32-1084) and AFIT programming course instruction (WMGT 423).
