Duties

  • Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of electronic motor controls, variable frequency drives, reduced voltage starters, and indicating and recording systems used on industrial machinery or engines.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic digital computers and peripheral equipment, such as computers and programmable logic controllers used for programming and diagnostics of equipment and complex integrated systems.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, installation, and calibration of integrated electronic systems.
  • Perform evaluation of complex electronic systems, solve engineering problems of site selection, systems integration, and modify equipment to adapt to novel site characteristics.

  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is designated Tier 3, Non-Critical Sensitive, Moderate Risk and requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance Level as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common tasks including install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various types of highly complex electronic sensing and control systems; interpret and apply engineering drawings to trace signal flow through less complex systems during troubleshooting; and perform or assist with installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing equipment and machinery used in the production of ammunition. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments require moderate physical effort. You must be capable to frequent lifts, carries, or otherwise handles items weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally handles items greater than 40 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. Works in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Occasionally, climbing ladders and working in high places will be required. The two person lift limit is 100 pounds and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires work usually to be performed inside in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. When equipment is fixed in place, it is sometimes necessary to work in warehouse or industrial areas exposed to loud noises, heat or cold, fumes, etc. Work is subject to injuries, such as electric shock, cuts, and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical energy or soldering irons.
