Duties

  • Plans, organizes, and oversees the product support planning and management activities of acquisition and sustainment for the F35.
  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to military and civilian employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
  • Oversees an LCL Integrated Product Team (IPT) for product support execution. Plans, organizes, and oversees the sustainment and support activities required to field and maintain the readiness and operational capability of assigned weapon systems, subsystems, and components, including all functions related to weapon system readiness, in support of the Division Chief's life cycle management responsibilities.
  • Reporting and Reviews. Analyzes maintenance data, mishap data, and Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) compliance to evaluate operation and maintenance performance in support of achieving overall product support.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • The employee must obtain and maintain a Top Security clearance as a condition of employment.
  • This position may be designated as an AF Testing Designated Position (TDP) with mandatory requirements for incumbent to: (A) refrain from use of illegal drugs and (B) submit to random urinalysis testing.
  • Employee may be required to work overtime.
  • Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement.
  • "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, Logistics Management Series 0346.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include knowledge of the logistics management principles, concepts, policies, and laws; logistics functions, programs, and systems applicable to the duties of position; sources, responsibilities, and means for providing assistance and advice to resolve logistics problems; and all aspects of life cycle integrated logistics support. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of Air Force Strategic Operations for the 21st century (AFSO 21) principles to identify problems and generate innovative solutions.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of the logistics management principles, concepts, policies, and laws; logistics functions, programs, and systems applicable to the duties of position; sources, responsibilities, and means for providing assistance and advice to resolve logistics problems; and all aspects of life cycle integrated logistics support.
  • Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Air Force Strategic Operations for the 21st century (AFSO 21) principles to identify problems and generate innovative solutions.
  • Skill in stratifying resources against approved programs; planning, presenting, and executing budgets; analyzing budget impacts on programs; forecasting long-term funding requirements; reviewing, evaluating, and presenting data; and supporting analysis of logistics management programs and activities' specialized documentation, etc.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the staff of an organization including special study teams and task forces composed of members from different organizations and commands.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

    VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
