About the Role
An Aerospace and Defense client is seeking a Principal Data Modeler and Database Engineer to join our team in Richardson, TX. This is an on-site position supporting classified programs and technologies that help defend freedoms and deter aggression. You will design, create, update, and manage databases and high-performance data models, contributing to mission-critical solutions in a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
Translate customer needs into viable database design solutions.
Develop physical data models based on business requirements and technical specifications.
Design and modify database structures (tables, indexes, constraints, views).
Implement database changes (DDL) using automated change control processes.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to validate data requirements.
Write and maintain SQL statements; advise developers on best practices.
Utilize tools such as Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler and Oracle Designer.
Work in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of start.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 8+ years of database engineering experience.
5+ years of relational data modeling with Oracle and PostgreSQL.
8+ years of experience with Oracle SQL/PLSQL and PostgreSQL SQL/plpgsql.
Proficiency in bash scripting and Python.
Strong Linux command-line skills for database administration and automation.
Experience collaborating with Systems and Software Engineers on backend database design.
Active TS/SCI with CI Poly prior to start.
Preferred Qualifications
Existing Security+ certification (or higher).
Experience with AWS RDS (Oracle) and AWS Aurora PostgreSQL.
Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB).
Expertise in SQL tuning and database performance troubleshooting.
Knowledge of database security, compliance, and audit requirements.
Experience with containerization, virtualization, and automation of database tasks.
Familiarity with Oracle Spatial and PostgreSQL PostGIS.
Experience using Git, Jira, and Confluence.
