Duties

  • Provides routine care for chronic medical problems within scope of practice and scope of care for TAAB.
  • Care is generally rendered in the outpatient clinics on a scheduled basis, but, to meet patient needs, they may need to be walked in or added to the physician's schedule
  • Provides care, advice, and referral coordination via telephone and e-mail as appropriate.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to include: blood chemistry, blood counts, liver function tests, urinalysis, sedimentation rates, drug and alcohol tests, x-rays, electrocardiograms, pulmonary function tests, and range of motion studies.
  • Performs procedures within scope of practice and scope of care for TAAB.
  • Implements and monitors the tracking systems for all submitted FDMEs, FDHSs, unit medical readiness, and deploy ability.
  • Provides medical supervision to health care delivery personnel assigned to TAAB
  • Manages the medical aspects of the Aviation Safety Program by conducting lectures and classes for aviation personnel, conducting flight line inspections.
  • Attends aviation safety councils, pilot, and aircrew member survival and physiological education and training.

  • IAW OPORD 13-28, Health Care Personnel Criminal Record Checks - USAMEDCOM: All health care personnel with frequent and regular contact with children under the age of 18 will be required to complete the Army Criminal Background Check (CBC).
  • Must be board-certified in a Primary Care Specialty (Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Preventive Medicine, Occupation Medicine, Aerospace Medicine or Emergency Medicine).
  • IAW DOD HA Policy 08-005, dated, 4 Apr 08, All healthcare personnel with direct patient care responsibilities must be immunized against influenza.
  • Employee may be required to participate in contingency readiness exercises, major accident response exercises, and investigations.
  • Maintains current state licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • May be required to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays and/or on-call duty hours.
  • Must be able to pass a Flight Physical in accordance with AR 40-501.
  • Pre-employment physical and annual physicals while in position.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required 10% of the time.

Basic Requirement for Physician (Aerospace Medicine):

Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Residency Training for GP-15 Position: Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled and equivalent experience and 1 year of appropriate graduate training or experience in Preventive Medicine, Occupational Medicine or Aerospace Medicine equal to at least 5 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
