MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).
Maximum Military Grade - LTC (O-5) with date of rank after July 2025
Minimum Military Grade - CAPT (O-3) with date of rank before January 2025
GS-13 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must possess at least one year of specialized experience, education or training equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or equivalent that demonstrates your knowledge of healthcare and medical disciplines, such as nursing, social work and occupational health; experience with medical readiness; experience advising units and commanders on issues surrounding medical readiness; and experience briefing senior leaders on related subjects. This specialized experience must also include experience managing and supervising health services program work functions and discipline requirements; managing personnel that included leading, directing, and assigning tasks and projects to personnel; conducting employee performance evaluations; and planning and scheduling work in a manner that promoted smooth flow and even distribution of assigning work requirements.

Education Requirements: Must possess a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the at the time the degree was obtained.
When education is required or substituted for experience, you must submit copies of college transcripts with the application packet. Unofficial copies may be submitted for application purposes, but placement will not occur until official transcripts have been provided.

- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities over the Office of the State Surgeon professional positions.
- Manages processes and procedures by planning, coordinating and providing guidance and policy for all medical actions within the state.
- Serves as an advisor to the recruiting command specialty branch, state federal recommendation boards, ASAP medical review officer and participates in the C2P2 and medical advisory group.
- Develops, plans, coordinates, and institutes medical policies to implement higher-level directives and federal law to provide optimum guidance and support to subordinate organizations.
- Coordinates with support organizations to assure an integrated approach to the solution of problems.
- Assesses the impact of changes in or to the medical program and coordinates with all principal parties to ensure that these changes do not exceed core capabilities.
- Develops procedures for correcting deficiencies to improve effectiveness.
- Identifies medical readiness trends; develops and issues guidance when warranted.
- Manages resources budgeted to the state for medical programs.
- Prepares the annual budget for the state medical readiness program to include funding at state, NGB, and DA sources.
- Conduct staff conferences to determine budget impacts caused by increased costs, changes in programs and policies, readiness requirements, and new program requirements.
- Executes the budget approved medical readiness and approves all changes which may need to be made due to unforeseen problems.
- Participates as a member of the PBAC.
- Ensures training requirements for medical personnel are met.
- Responds to and advises on Congressional/IG inquiries, formal investigations and HIPPA requests.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.

- May be required to successfully complete a supervisory probationary period.
