ASRC Systems Solutions, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a full-time Chief Engineer (CE) to support the Rocket System Launch Program (RSLP) Mission Assurance contract at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM. The primary responsibility of this position is support of the Program Manager by providing subject matter expert/technical support as noted below.
The Chief Engineer is a key position on the RSLP MA contract and is responsible for providing technical expertise and assisting SSC/AMX with analysis of emerging and new programs by effectively solving technical challenges. The CE recommends ways to successfully integrate programs; recommends technical solutions for RSLP missions launch vehicles; mitigates risk; and provides concept analysis, knowledge development, and engineering leadership across all disciplines for DXBM and IV&V missions to successfully achieve mission requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Reports to PM; Primary POC to SSC/AMXE Chief Engineer
- Provide technical leadership, oversight of TOs, motor refurbishment, booster build, system integration
- Provide technical TO input; provide input on mission requirements; Support Launch Operations
- Dual-hatted as Project Engineer (PE) until TOID award
- Risk Assessment and MA technical authority; Analyze risk factors, propose mitigation.
- Evaluate lessons learned and sibling issues across all missions and AS efforts
- Ensures GIDEP and other alerts are evaluated for applicability to RSLP missions/AS efforts
- Provide technical advice at weekly IPTs
- Evaluate standardization of technical efforts across all space launch, engineering, logistics, field processing, booster refurbishment, targets
- Conduct tech eval of MA, vehicle concepts, designs, independent design analysis
- Recommend technical corrective actions
- Prepare, present briefing materials on independent mission risk assessment
- Monitor service, product tech performance
- Invoke Decision Analysis and Resolution (DAR) Process, as needed
- Identify technical risks/mitigations
- Review TOs, accurate cost baselines
- Evaluate effectiveness, improvement of processes, procedures, and documentation
- Ensure processes are aligned with SBEC
- Manage/maintain technical baseline and
- Ensure compliance with technical requirements versus cost baseline
Requirements:
- Ability to plan and organize work, coordinate between various engineering and test disciplines, and coordinate with stakeholders.
- Participate in and ensure integrated engineering support for IV&V project activities, design reviews, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), working groups and other RSLP activities.
- Knowledge of launch systems design and integration with expertise in the areas including solid and liquid rocket motors, avionics, software, guidance, structures
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with contractor and government customer counterparts.
- Demonstrated high initiative, proactive, low-maintenance, self-starter required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to perform technical writing, editing, and document formatting is required.
Education/Experience:
- BS degree in an engineering science (STEM).
- 5-years of engineering management experience for booster processing, launch operations, aging surveillance, MA, planning support, and risk assessment
- 10-years' experience working with the SSC AMX (RSLP) customer is highly desired.
- Mature problem solving, decision making, and communications skills
- Active Secret (T3 investigation) security clearance is required; prefer Top Secret (T5 investigation)
