Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent which includes: : 1) providing guidance on law enforcement policies and procedures to team members; 2) performing law enforcement duties to include collect evidence, conducting searches, administering first aid, AND 3) enforcing laws to protect personnel and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Additional information
- Conduct investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property.
- Serve as Point of Contact (POC) for civil law enforcement agencies required to serve due process to military and civilian personnel on the installation.
- Responsible for the proper documentary control of the safe and secure storage of all evidence obtained during investigations, raids, etc.
- Provide informal channels to resolve problems arising due to jurisdictional or procedural differences between the military and civil agencies.
Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is subject to compliance with the Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position will require the incumbent to pass the primary physical fitness/agility test (PAT) within 30 days of employment and an annual one thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and /or protective clothing and equipment.
- This position requires certification in the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training.
- This position requires the incumbent to be proficient in the use of assigned firearms.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete the USAMPS Civilian Police Academy.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully graduate from the USAMPS Military Police Investigator Course.
- Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Position is covered by the Lautenberg Amendment. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position. Incumbent is subject to removal from the position if convicted of a felony.
- NOTE: Federal law requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies.
