Position Summary
Akamai-Intelligence is seeking an experienced IT Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist to support Department of Defense (DoD) contracting environments. This role collaborates with engineering, testing, cybersecurity, and program management teams to develop clear, accurate, and compliant documentation supporting IT system design, implementation, testing, and validation. Strong writing skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of DoD contract deliverables, compliance requirements, and testing methodologies are essential for success.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, edit, and maintain IT system design documentation aligned with program and contractual requirements.
Create and update test plans, test scripts, and test procedures supporting system verification and validation activities.
Support requirements traceability documentation from system design through testing and deployment.
Prepare and maintain Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) and Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) in accordance with contract obligations.
Document system architecture, hardware and software configurations, security controls, and data flows.
Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and testing teams to ensure documentation accurately reflects system functionality.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user guides, system manuals, and compliance reports.
Prepare technical documentation for design reviews, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and System Acceptance Reviews (SARs).
Ensure documentation complies with DoD standards and frameworks including NIST, FISMA, RMF, MIL-STD, and IEEE.
Support risk assessments, configuration management documentation, and change control processes.
Maintain document control, version tracking, approvals, and historical records for all technical deliverables.
Required Qualifications
Active Secret security clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Five (5) or more years of experience in technical writing for IT systems, DoD projects, or government contracts.
Strong understanding of IT design documentation, test plans, test scripts, test procedures, and validation requirements.
Experience developing and maintaining CDRLs, DIDs, and other government contract deliverables.
Familiarity with network infrastructure, system integration, and security best practices.
Knowledge of DoD acquisition processes, contract requirements, and documentation standards.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and documentation tools.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting DoD IT system testing, verification, and validation activities.
Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, MIL-STD documentation requirements, and DoD compliance frameworks.
Familiarity with configuration management and requirements tracking tools such as DOORS or JIRA.
Local candidates available to report on-site as required.
