Role Summary
The Senior Solutions Architect bridges business development and technical delivery-ensuring winning solutions that we can execute successfully. You will design technical approaches, lead proposal technical volumes, represent company in orals presentations, and serve as a trusted advisor to federal clients. This is the technical side of sales, not a hand-shaker role.
Key Responsibilities:
Solution Development (40%)
• Design technical solutions aligned with customer requirements
• Develop innovative approaches that differentiate our company
• Create solution architectures and technical narratives
• Estimate level of effort and pricing inputs
• Validate technical feasibility with delivery teams
Capture Support (25%)
• Participate in capture planning and strategy sessions
• Conduct technical assessments of opportunities
• Analyze competitor technical approaches
• Develop technical win themes and discriminators
• Support bid/no-bid decisions with technical input
Proposal & Orals (25%)
• Lead technical volume writing and review
• Prepare and deliver orals presentations
• Coach team members on technical presentations
• Respond to technical clarifications and Q&A
• Ensure compliance with technical requirements
Customer Advisory (10%)
• Serve as technical SME in customer meetings
• Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies
• Support past performance development
• Contribute to white papers and capability briefings
Required Qualifications:
Experience
• 8+ years in federal IT or related technical delivery
• 3+ years in solution architecture or technical BD
• Track record of winning proposals with technical leadership
• Experience with orals presentations
• Deep expertise in federal technology domains:
o Cybersecurity (RMF, ZTA, FedRAMP, CDM)
o Cloud (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, cloud migration)
o IT modernization and enterprise architecture
o DevSecOps and modern delivery approaches
Knowledge
• Federal IT modernization landscape
• NIST, DISA, and DoD security frameworks
• Modern architecture patterns (microservices, API-first, cloud-native)
• GovCon proposal process and compliance
Skills
• Technical writing excellence
• Executive presentation and orals delivery
• Complex problem solving
• Cross-functional collaboration
• Customer relationship building
Clearance
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance (preferred)
• Active clearance a plus, not required
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (strongly preferred)
• AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification (strongly preferred)
• Other relevant certifications (CISSP, PMP, TOGAF)
• Experience with federal contract vehicles
• Published thought leadership or speaking engagements
• Prior federal consulting experience
The ideal candidate is a technical builder who can sell. They have:
• Designed architectures that won - not just supported proposals, but led technical approaches
• Deep federal IT expertise - RMF, FedRAMP, cloud migrations, not just buzzwords
• Orals experience - can command a room and answer hard questions
• First-principles thinking - challenges "best practices" when they don't fit
