Location: Remote with Travel commitments may be expected, with an estimated requirement of up to 25%.

EXPANSIA is excited to design, implement, and mature a secure, scalable Integrated Digital Environment (IDE) that enables Digital Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) integration across the developing US Hypersonic enterprise and industrial base. Located at the new aerospace research and test complex, this facility is poised to become the nation's premier hub for hypersonic system research, modeling & simulation, and test capabilities.

As a Software Architect IV, you will provide expert-level architectural oversight for the development of new and enhanced software products. You will define the architectural vision, explore alternative design approaches, and validate solutions against technical and business requirements. Your role will involve working closely with product developers, product managers, and customer application experts to ensure feature completeness and system scalability. You will apply extensive technical expertise to develop solutions to complex software challenges while exercising considerable latitude in determining architectural objectives and strategies. Additionally, you will lead research initiatives, provide technical guidance across departments, and integrate components into a unified software ecosystem.

The proposed salary range for this position is$133,445- $164,000. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications. RESPONSIBILTIES
    • Provide architectural and strategic oversight for software development projects
    • Define and articulate the architectural vision while experimenting with alternative approaches to optimize design
    • Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) efforts through alignment of software services with digital thread objectives and engineering model traceability
    • Architect and implement seamless integrations with commercial engineering applications (PLM, MBSE, CAD, etc) using REST APIs, file-based integrations, or service buses where applicable
    • Develop models, component specifications, and interface documentation to support scalable software architecture
    • Collaborate with product developers, product managers, and customer application experts to ensure optimal software performance and feature integration
    • Lead integration efforts for software components developed by different teams to create cohesive and efficient solutions
    • Provide expert-level technical advice and consultation to various departments within the organization
    • Direct and contribute to research and planning initiatives that drive innovation and efficiency in software development
    • Develop technical solutions to complex problems while exercising considerable latitude in determining architectural objectives and methodologies
    • Validate and refine architectural decisions through prototyping, industry benchmarking, and system performance testing
    • Ensure software architecture aligns with business goals, security best practices, and compliance standards
    • Provide technical support to operational strategies aligned within your program and initiatives that optimize processes, enhance productivity, and ensure quality across all program functions
    • Ensure 100% of planned hours are worked and recorded
    • Identify and forward to your leadership any opportunities that could lead to growth within your work area
    • Participate in growth efforts as requested
    • Ensure all contractual deliverables are met/exceeded to the customer's satisfaction
    • Complete personal PDP and attend Staff Meeting and Storytime (with camera on)
    • Within your program, build productive and positive professional relationships with clients
    • Execute all contract requirements as assigned in accordance with the contract-specific LCAT and requirements
    • Perform other related duties as assigned


KEY QUALIFICATIONS
    • Clearance: Active Secret clearance
    • Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 8-10 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 6-8 years of experience


    • Considered an emerging authority in software architecture, with extensive technical expertise in designing scalable and high-performance software solutions
    • Proven ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems while determining innovative approaches to architectural challenge
    • Experience defining data semantics and mappings between COTS tools and custom application data models
    • Strong knowledge of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software deployment methodologies
    • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, system integration strategies, and architectural best practices
    • Ability to work independently with wide latitude for judgment while aligning architectural decisions with business objectives
    • Experience in leading research and technical planning efforts to enhance software efficiency and reliability


PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
    • Expertise in cloud computing, microservices architecture, and enterprise-level distributed systems
    • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software deployment methodologies
    • Proficiency in software modeling techniques, component-based architecture, and API design
    • Hands-on experience with multiple programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++
    • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, database management, and large-scale system integrations
    • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or INCOSE CSEP
