AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee-owned federal government contractor, is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator with an active Top Secret clearance to support a mission-critical classified program at Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division, IN.
This role supports a secure, closed Linux enclave responsible for protecting and recovering highly sensitive mission data. The ideal candidate brings strong Red Hat Linux experience, enterprise system administration skills, and a desire to grow within a high-trust, technically complex environment.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. Responsibilities
As a Senior Linux Systems Administrator with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following:
- Administer and support Red Hat Linux systems in a classified, closed enclave
- Provide Tier II operational support for production and development environments
- Monitor system performance, storage capacity, and availability
- Review logs, validate backups, and support recovery operations
- Develop and maintain scripts using BASH and Python
- Manage users, groups, permissions, and local repositories per RMF requirements
- Support secure data transfers and automation workflows
- Author and maintain SOPs, SCTMs, and RMF documentation
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance
- Coordinate with geographically separated partner sites
- Recommend system, process, and architecture improvements
- Mentor junior administrators and support team development
Qualifications
- Active Top Secret clearance
- 5-7 years of Linux systems administration experience in enterprise or mission-critical environments
- Experience with Ansible, containerization (Podman/Docker), and OpenLDAP
- DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)
- VMware vSphere 7.x+ experience
- BASH and Python scripting skills
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL
- Ability to obtain RHCSA within six months of hire
