The Electrician is responsible to use various tools, testing instruments and equipment to install, inspect, repair, maintain, adjust and troubleshoot various pieces of electrical equipment.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
  • Installs or repairs any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
  • Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
  • Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
  • Uses a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
  • Work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
  • Troubleshoots and evaluates electrical systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Accountable For:
  • Proper use of tools and equipment commonly used in the Electrical Maintenance field.
  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
  • Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
  • Works with computers logging time, opening and closing work orders.
  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Adherence to established ASRC safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
  • Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.
  • Having the ability to work well under pressure.


Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):
Mandatory
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years' experience in electrical maintenance work.
  • Current Journeyman Electrical License in the state of employment
  • Ability to read blueprints, bend conduits, troubleshoot, repair motors and controls, and install and repair AC and DC equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of switches, transformers, and transformer hook-ups.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the Secret level.
  • Ability to successfully pass any employment background check and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.


Preferred
  • Trade school certification in related field.
  • Current Secret Level Security Clearance.


Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to work outdoors, at times during inclement weather.
  • Must be able to load/unload materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Comfortable working around exposures to hazardous materials.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, such as utilidors.
  • Comfortable working on electrical equipment located at various heights.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend or squat periodically throughout each workday.
  • Must be able to climb on a ladder for various tasks.
