A rapidly growing and highly innovative aerospace company is seeking an Operations Support Engineer to support real-time satellite mission operations at its operations centers in Denver, CO. The organization specializes in end-to-end spacecraft solutions, including spacecraft production, payload integration, launch support, ground systems, and mission operations, enabling customers to deploy space assets quickly and reliably.
Role Overview
The Operations Support Engineer will serve as a subject-matter expert in satellite operations, working closely with engineering and mission operations teams to support multiple on-orbit spacecraft. This role is hands-on, operationally focused, and requires comfort with shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of a 24/7 operations environment.
Responsibilities
Perform on-console support for real-time satellite operations and anomaly investigations across multiple missions
Develop, execute, and maintain operational documentation, including procedures, anomaly reports, and information files
Respond to hardware and software anomalies affecting both space and ground systems
Monitor spacecraft and ground system health through telemetry trending and analysis
Support mission planning activities for multiple on-orbit spacecraft
Participate in mission rehearsals, launch support activities, and anomaly response exercises
Develop and maintain tools to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
Collaborate with engineering subject matter experts and mission operations personnel to plan and execute mission objectives while meeting contractual requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
Prior experience in satellite operations and/or satellite mission planning
Ability to quickly learn operational documentation, software systems, and hardware designs
Familiarity with Python
Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Willingness and ability to work off-hours, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
Active Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, orbital dynamics, and ground systems
Experience with telemetry analysis and trending
Familiarity with space situational awareness concepts
Experience working with flight and ground software
Background in network administration and data management
General understanding of cybersecurity best practices
Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar project management platforms
Active TS/SCI clearance
