Database Administrator

The Database Engineer designs project databases. They implement and maintain project databases. They conduct performance tuning of indexes, optimize storage functionality, and update/sustain databases. They review database design and integration of systems. They perform backup and recovery of project databases. They make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements to project databases. They maintain security and integrity controls for project databases. They design, develop, build, analyze, evaluate, and install database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management. They use data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. They determine data storage and optimum storage requirements. They prepare system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation. They evaluate, size, and select technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and application databases. They write and tune SQL queries for performance and scalability. They implement comprehensive backup and database replication solutions.
