Key Responsibilities
The Senior Training Specialist will:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Mobile Training Team (MTT) missions in support of Home Station training requirements for Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Joint customers
- Develop, standardize, and deliver institutional, tactical, and technical training curricula, including tailored modules and mission-specific instruction aligned with current doctrine, TTPs, and operational requirements
- Facilitate classroom, hands-on, and scenario-based instruction across unclassified and classified environments (SIPR and JWICS)
- Apply Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies, including ADDIE, to design, evaluate, update, and maintain training materials and lesson plans
- Conduct training needs analyses, collect student feedback, and lead after-action reviews (AARs) to assess training effectiveness and drive continuous curriculum improvement
- Coordinate closely with unit commanders, training managers, and higher headquarters to align training objectives with mission profiles and operational readiness goals
- Ensure compliance with DoD and service-specific training regulations, records management requirements, INFOSEC, OPSEC, and physical security standards
- Serve as the senior facilitator or lead trainer during complex MTT deployments and mentor junior instructors to maintain instructional quality and consistency
Responsibilities
Required Skills and Experience
The Senior Training Specialist must have:
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- 12-14 years of experience in military training, education, or operational support roles, with a strong emphasis on instructor-led, tactical, and technical instruction
- 5+ years of experience supporting Mobile Training Teams (MTT) or comparable expeditionary or institutional training efforts
- Demonstrated experience delivering instruction to diverse military audiences, including enlisted personnel, officers, warrant officers, and civilians
- Proven ability to operate and instruct in classified environments (SIPR, JWICS) in accordance with DoD INFOSEC and physical security requirements
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and executive-level briefing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and senior leadership effectively
- Working knowledge of training support systems and learning management platforms such as DTMS, ALMS, Blackboard, JKO, or service-specific LMS tools
- Demonstrated application of ISD principles (ADDIE) for curriculum development, evaluation, and continuous improvement
- Prior experience supporting Professional Military Education (PME), collective training events, or large-scale exercises (e.g., War fighter, JRTC, Joint War fighting Assessments) is highly desirable
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75%) to CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of mission requirements
Education and Certifications
The Senior Training Specialist must meet the following:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in education, Instructional technology, Military Studies, Organizational Development, or a related field
Preferred
- Master's degree in training, Leadership, or a related field
- Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC), Small Group Instructor Training Course (SGITC), or Service equivalent instructor certification
- Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or Instructional Designer certification
