BreakPoint Labs is seeking a Research-Development Specialist to conduct software and systems engineering research, facilitating the development of new cyberspace capabilities in Ft. Meade, Maryland. This role focuses on comprehensive technology research to evaluate and identify potential vulnerabilities in adversary systems.
Responsibilities include:
-Conduct in-depth research to identify and analyze potential vulnerabilities in software, hardware, and firmware components.
-Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments to identify potential attack vectors.
-Evaluate the security posture of cyberspace systems, including network protocols, operating systems, and applications.
-Research and analyze emerging technologies and trends, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Required Experience:
-Expertise in multiple programming languages (C, C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, Bash/Bourne/C Shell, Rust, and assembly (x86/x64, ARM, MIPS).
-In-depth knowledge of low-level development for Windows internals (WinAPI, kernel structures, device drivers), Linux/Unix internals (kernel modules, syscalls), macOS (XNU kernel), Android, and/or iOS.
-Experience with network stacks, protocols, and devices, network socket development, and low-level understanding of TCP/IP and other application-level protocols.
-Experience with reverse engineering and vulnerability research for applications and kernel on Linux/Windows/MacOs, Mobile OS such as Android/iOS, and embedded systems.
-Experience researching network device appliances (routers, switches, firewalls).
-8+ years of experience with cybersecurity tools such as vulnerability scanners, penetration testing frameworks, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems.
-Thorough understanding of modern exploit mitigation techniques (e.g., ASLR, DEP, PXN, Stack Canaries, and hardware-enforced Control-Flow Integrity [CFI]).
Certifications Required: Security+ Continuing Education (CE) [CompTIA] and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) [EC-Council], CASP+, RCCE Level 1, GCLD
