JOB AD: Public Health Officer
Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for PHOs to partner with us in providing medical services to UN sponsored Kenyan Peacekeepers at a field hospital in Port Au Prince, Haiti. This will be a deployed, rotational contract offering various rotational deployment cycles.
The team will be based in a secure, purpose-built camp and hospital facility in Port au Prince, Haiti, and all service delivery requirements will be conducted within the confines of that facility.
Aspen Medical will provide a Level 2 Field Hospital with EMS, Pre-Hospital Care, Surgical, Diagnostic and Laboratory, and other ancillary services.
Qualification Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited university program providing at least three (3) years of theoretical and practical education in Public Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, or Community Health after secondary education.
  • A postgraduate diploma or master's degree in any of these fields is desirable.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible professional practice after obtaining the public health qualification, including work in epidemiology, disease control, environmental health, or emergency response.
  • Must have current and valid certification or documented training in Epidemiology, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), or Outbreak Management, completed within 12 months prior to deployment.
  • Training in Field Epidemiology (FETP) or Health Emergencies Management is desirable.
  • Must hold a relevant practice license or national accreditation authorizing performance of public health functions within their professional scope.
  • The license or registration must remain valid throughout deployment.
  • In lieu of licensure (where applicable), a certificate or letter of good standing issued by the competent national authority should be provided.
Language Proficiency:
  • Fluency in Haitian Creole and/or French is highly desired.
  • English proficiency-a minimum of Level B 2 is required
This position will be a 1099 contractor, with a fixed daily rate while on rotation. You will not receive pay while off rotation.
