ASRC Federal is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support an upcoming contract. This work will be supporting a federal customer located in Washington, DC.
Work location: Onsite ( Mon - Fri ) - Washington, DC
Clearance: Public Trust; must be a US Citizen to successfully complete a government issued background investigation.
Summary: Under general direction, the Senior Network Engineer manages the purchase, installation, and support of network communications, including local area network (LAN) and wide-area network (WAN) systems. This role is responsible for evaluating current systems and addressing complex problems that require in-depth analysis of various factors. The engineer will plan large-scale systems projects, utilize vendor comparisons and cost studies, while providing work leadership and training to lower-level network engineers. Expert knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, networks, and applications is required.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of network engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree, or higher, in an IT-related field.
- Extensive experience with network administration technologies such as domain name services (DNS), dynamic host control protocols (DHCP), network time protocol (NTP); RADIUS; log servers; packet sensing; authentication, authorization, and accountability services (AAAS); IP address space management (IPv4 and IPv6); routing protocols (BGP); virtual LAN segmentation management; and network address translation (NAT)
- Familiar with capturing, analyzing and troubleshooting, and performance tuning network applications.
- Extensive experience with network access control management.
- Extensive experience with reviewing and analyzing requests for network connectivity.
- May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
- Strong system and network troubleshooting ability.
Position Responsibilities
- Helpdesk Support Services
- Provide first-line support for end-users, addressing a variety of technical issues including hardware, software, network connectivity, and user account problems.
- Establish clear communication channels for users to report issues and receive updates on the status of their requests.
- Document and track all support requests and resolutions in the ticketing system, ensuring that all interactions are logged accurately.
- Follow up with end-users to ensure that their issues have been resolved to their satisfaction.
- Network and Infrastructure System Administration
- Monitor network performance and perform regular assessments to identify and resolve connectivity issues and optimize system functionality.
- Manage and maintain servers, ensuring that all software updates and security patches are applied in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine backups of critical data and prepare for disaster recovery to safeguard against data loss.
- Maintain inventory of all IT equipment and ensure proper configuration, ensuring compliance with organizational protocols.
- Enterprise Application Support
- Assist users in navigating enterprise applications and provide training to maximize their proper usage and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application-related issues, coordinating with software vendors as necessary.
- Test and implement software updates and new features, ensuring that they are compatible with existing systems and do not disrupt ongoing operations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements for application enhancements and ensure that development efforts align with organizational goals.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all support processes, system configurations, and procedures to support knowledge management and continuity of operations.
- Generate regular reports on ticket volumes, resolution times, and user feedback to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide recommendations for changes to enhance operational efficiency and user satisfaction.
- Compliance and Security Management
- Adhere to all relevant security policies and protocols to protect organizational data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential security threats and implement measures to mitigate risks, including user education on safe practices.
- Regularly audit systems and procedures to ensure that they meet security standards and best practices.
