ASRC Federal is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support an upcoming contract. This work will be supporting a federal customer located in Washington, DC.
Work location: Onsite ( Mon - Fri ) - Washington, DC
Clearance: Public Trust; must be a US Citizen to successfully complete a government issued background investigation.
Summary: The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for overseeing system administration activities under general direction. This role includes assigning team members to various projects, directing their activities, and evaluating their performance to ensure the efficient operation of IT systems. The Senior Systems Administrator will play a crucial role in including long-term operational requirements in the overall information systems planning of the Office of Inspector General (OIG). Additionally, this position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software, as well as implementing operating system enhancements to improve system reliability and performance.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience or equivalent work experience as a systems engineer/administrator.
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer preferred.
- Experience installing, configuring and maintaining infrastructure equipment.
- Microsoft Operating systems, business applications, Office365 and Teams.
- Communicate with vendors as needed.
- Proficient in Windows Server 2012R2 or Higher.
- Proficient understanding of technology areas such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy and DFS.
- Fundamental understanding of authentication mechanisms such as Kerberos, LDAP and NTLM and use of necessary tools to troubleshoot them.
- Experience Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
- Strong knowledge of PowerShell and .NET scripting.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and technologies preferred.
- Analytical approach to solve complex problems in a complex, large-scale, and multi datacenter environments.
- A working understanding of firewalls, routing, switching, and other networking fundamentals.
- Some programming and database knowledge preferred.
Position Responsibilities
- Supervise and Coordinate Activities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the systems administration team, ensuring efficient task delegation and completion.
- Mentor and provide support to junior staff, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance their skills and career development.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations for team members and provide constructive feedback to improve individual and team productivity.
- Develop and Implement Maintenance Plans:
- Create and maintain comprehensive schedules for routine system maintenance and upgrades to ensure systems remain secure and operational.
- Monitor system resources, including CPU usage, memory allocation, and storage capacity, to proactively identify and address potential performance issues before they affect end-users.
- Apply timely updates, security patches, and software enhancements in accordance with IT best practices and organizational policies to mitigate vulnerabilities and ensure system reliability.
- Manage System Integration and Configuration:
- Lead the installation and configuration of new servers, applications, and services within the organization to meet evolving business requirements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate and optimize existing systems, ensuring seamless communication and compatibility across platforms.
- Document all configuration changes and system updates thoroughly, maintaining a comprehensive repository for reference and compliance purposes.
- Ensure Compliance and Security:
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for system usage, ensuring adherence to organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct periodic audits and assessments of system security measures, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to proactively identify risks and vulnerabilities, ensuring that systems are protected against unauthorized access and data breaches.
