The Parts Purchaser is responsible for purchasing, managing inventory, and issuing spare parts for motor vehicles and industrial equipment. This role is essential to maintaining operational readiness and reliability of equipment, supporting the GSE department through accurate inventory control, vendor coordination, and timely procurement. The position operates under the direction of the GSE Manager and Station Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of materials, parts usage, and purchase orders.
  • Coordinate warranty and core return with suppliers.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet operational needs and reduce downtime.
  • Receive parts and supplies; verify deliveries, enter item data and cost into the inventory system, stock shelves, and track movement of inventory.
  • Conduct routine inventory counts (cycle and physical).
  • Source and purchase parts from approved vendors, referencing manuals and specifications when needed.
  • Verify incoming merchandise against invoices and requisitions for accuracy.
  • Maintain organized records of parts received, distributed, and stored.
  • Load and unload supplies for various work locations when required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the GSE Manager or Station Manager.

Qualifications

  • Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs independently; occasionally 70-100 lbs with assistance.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills with a positive, professional, and customer-service oriented demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and in fast-paced situations.
  • Willing and able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as required.
  • Successful completion of background screening, including FBI fingerprinting, criminal history check, and pre-employment drug test.
  • Education is not required for this role; equivalent skills, experience, and ability to perform job duties successfully are accepted.

Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, work orders, safety rules, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to write basic reports and documentation clearly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one and in group settings.

Math Skills:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Skills:
  • Ability to apply sound judgement to carry out written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot routine issues involving limited variables.


Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and lifting.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, and extended periods of physical movement.
  • Exposure to varying outdoor weather including rain, snow, wind, heat, and extreme cold.
  • Noise levels may be moderate to high; hearing protection provided when necessary.
