CAD Specialist - Undersea Systems

Contract Position

Ability to Obtain and Maintain Secret Clearance
Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Program Management, Electrical, Mechanical, and Component Engineering teams to complete printed wiring board (PWB) designs.
- Perform schematic capture, layout design, constraints management, and documentation generation using tools like Cadence Capture CIS, Allegro, Altium, and Xpedition.
- Manage component libraries, schematic symbols, footprints, and padstacks; create board stackups and perform impedance and transmission line modeling.
- Support post-processing tasks such as generating Gerbers, ODB++, and CAM files using CAM350, Valor, and other DFM/DFX tools.
- Apply and adhere to industry standards, including IPC, J-STD, ASME, Mil-Spec, RoHS, and UL for board and circuit card assembly design.
- Design a wide range of circuit types, including analog, digital, mixed signal, high-speed, RF, power supplies, high current/voltage, and multiple communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet, PCI, VPX, RS485, SATA, USB, I2C).
- Support multiple designs concurrently and manage daily status updates, file repository uploads, and host design review sessions via MS Teams.
- Follow established internal processes and complete documentation checklists to ensure design release compliance and project schedule alignment.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, or related field preferred.
- Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain a security clearance if needed.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in PCB/PWB layout and design for high-reliability environments.
- Tools & Platforms:
- CAD: Cadence Capture CIS, Allegro, Altium, Xpedition
- DFM/Documentation: Gerber, ODB++, CAM350, Valor, Polar Si9000, Z-planner
- Mechanical/CAD: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, eDrawings
- Collaboration: Windchill, MS Teams, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access), Adobe
- Technical Knowledge:
- Industry standards: IPC, J-STD, ASME, MIL-SPEC, RoHS, ESD
- PCB fabrication and circuit card assembly materials, processes, and tolerances
- Strong understanding of electronic components, layout topologies, and signal integrity modeling
- Work Location: Position can be on-site in Canonsburg, PA, or remote based on candidate location and program requirements.
