Summary:

The Telecommunications/Electronics Technician Level 4 leads large contractor-related technical efforts and provides expert consultation in the organizing of telecommunications installations on site.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:
  • Performs site surveys and documents current site telecommunications configuration and user requirements
  • Designs and optimizes telecommunications topologies
  • Directs and leads development of engineering installation packages, Project Coordination Memoranda, and project drawings
  • Develops on-site installation schedules
  • Directs and leads documentation of the configuration changes at each site
  • Develops equipment and system test plans

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
  • Proficient in using common test equipment (e.g. digital and Ethernet test sets, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters/analyzers)
  • Proficient in testing communications and power equipment/systems and following standard test procedures
  • Must be proficient at trouble-shooting problems with telecommunications equipment, to include system interfaces, and power/ground issues
  • Proficient at troubleshooting and activating circuits
  • Ability to understand QA processes and follow QA process guidelines
  • Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have 2 years of telecommunications /electronics vocational training or professional certification from an ABET accredited technical school or equivalent military school and 10 years' experience in two or more of the specialties below:
    • Telephone and switching technology

    • Power and electrical systems
    • Fiber optics
    • Copper cabling
    • Electromagnetic pulse/high-altitude electromagnet pulse
    • Technical control
    • Data centers
    • Test and evaluation

    • Audio/visual systems
    • Grounding, bonding, and shielding
    • Electromagnetic compatibility

  • A substitution for training may be applied with 15 years of experience in two or more of the specialties identified in the above paragraph.
  • Pass an employer background check Ability to get a National Agency Check (NAC) Investigation
  • Possess an active Secret clearance or be eligible for an Interim Secret clearance
  • Requires up to 50% travel, both CONUS and OCONUS

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical or electronic engineering


Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $63,000 annually.
