Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the project management and business services fields as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy (DOE) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). AIS has an established history of contributing to the success of our customer's mission.
Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the ORNL in Oak Ridge, TN. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratory. Pay, benefits, human resource, and employment management functions are provided by AIS.
Qualified applicants must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the DOE.
The qualified candidate will support the Environment, Safety, Health, and Quality (ESH&Q) Directorate by delivering communications products that help stakeholders understand how ORNL operates to accomplish the mission safely and effectively. Working under the direction of the ESH&Q communications lead, this person will create content for multiple platforms, develop innovative ideas for art direction and storytelling, and coordinate with others to keep projects moving from conception to completion.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in writing and digital media as well as strong communication, coordination, and production skills. They will handle multiple assignments at once, maintain accuracy and timeliness, and ensure all content and visuals meet the organization's standards. Responsibilities
- Interact with research and operations staff to produce compelling communications products that demonstrate teamwork and collaboration to accomplish ORNL's mission.
- Create content such as feature articles, photography, videos and scripts, social media posts, and newsletters.
- Convey the value of operational activities to multiple audiences, including sponsors, employees, and the general public.
- Collaborate with graphic designers, animators, photographers, videographers, and other communicators to produce cohesive, high-quality materials.
- Work under direction of the ESH&Q communications lead to pitch, plan, and see projects to completion that align with internal and external strategy.
- Adapt to evolving timelines and shifting priorities while ensuring projects stay on track.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop, edit, and coordinate diverse communications materials across multiple formats.
- Excellent organization skills to maintain project files, visuals, and assets.
- Experience creating web and social media content, including using content management systems such as Drupal, WordPress, or SharePoint.
- Experience with video production and editing, including using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with subject matter experts, administrators, and leadership.
- Ability to work independently while keeping project leads informed and engaged.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience producing marketing or communications products for corporate or general audiences.
Special Requirements:
- Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
- This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. If determined as such, this position would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre-employment drug screen.
